Lyddy is a 2009 graduate of the University of Connecticut where he finished with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. While at Connecticut, Kyle was a traveling manager for the Men's Basketball team under head coach Jim Calhoun. As a senior at UConn, he accompanied the Huskies to the Final Four in Detroit, Michigan where they fell in the National Semifinal to Michigan State.

After graduation, Lyddy self published a book titled From My Seat, which details the positive experiences of the Huskies 2009 Final Four season. With the approval of Jim Calhoun, the book takes college basketball fans behind the scenes, on the team planes and in the locker room of one of the top programs in the country.

Lyddy is from Newtown, Connecticut where he is a graduate of Newtown High School.

Kyle is the youngest of five children (Ryan, Kara, Katie & Chris) and is the brother of current Connecticut State Representative Christopher Lyddy. Kyle resides in his Newtown home with his mother, Sally. Lyddy's father passed in 2006 of coln cancer.

Lyddy is the founder of the NACBM.
